The profession of undertaker has changed steadily in recent years. Our work is no longer limited to placing the deceased in a coffin and transporting them. Today, it is also very important to offer sensitive bereavement counseling and respectful support, where the needs and wishes of the bereaved or the deceased are discussed and, if possible, taken into account. Together with us, the family chooses their own personal way of saying goodbye. We respond to individual wishes and work discreetly and respectfully!

For over 30 years, we have been the point of contact in the event of a death.
In 1999, my wife Trix and I started our own business and founded the funeral service Betschart GmbH.
In the spring of 2000, we had the opportunity to take over the funeral service of the lakeside communities of Vitznau, Weggis, and Greppen from Hansruedi Zimmermann, Vitznau. As part of a restructuring process, we took over the Eichhorn funeral home in Seewen/Schwyz and Küssnacht am Rigi in July 2003. At the same time, the name was changed to Bestattungsdienst Betschart & Eichhorn GmbH.
On January 1, 2012, we were able to take over the funeral service of Josef Betschart (Sagerli) Muotathal, and on January 1, 2014, we had the opportunity to expand our area of operation even further by continuing the Ernst Schönbächler funeral service in Einsiedeln under our name.
Today, our funeral service consists of a six-member, well-trained, and highly experienced team that is available to you 24/7, 365 days a year. Our company has been a recognized member of the Swiss Association of Funeral Services (SVB) for several years, where we also complete our training and continuing education.

We provide comprehensive advice around the clock in the event of a death and take care of all the formalities involved in placing the deceased in a coffin and transporting them at home and abroad. Whether burial or cremation, with viewing at home or in the viewing room, in their own clothes or in a shroud – we respectfully accept and carry out your wishes. We coordinate between the family, the parish office, the funeral office, the investigating authorities, the crematorium, and the cemetery.
We are familiar with the local conditions in the various communities and parishes and have all the important contacts and addresses at our disposal. The funeral consultation can take place at the relatives' home, in the hospital, in a nursing home, or in our meeting room. A quote will show the applicable local costs.

It is also possible to arrange your own funeral wishes in advance.
Anyone who wants to plan and influence their own funeral can record their wishes in writing and leave this letter with their relatives, their local community, and the funeral service. Our tasks also include providing advice and support in drawing up a "living will," as well as holding information events on the topic of "Saying goodbye, our daily work and challenge. "

"Beyond national borders"

We have specially equipped funeral vehicles available for the transport of deceased persons within Germany and abroad. We are very experienced in dealing with customs and embassies and are familiar with the laws and regulations. We also take care of all the formalities in such demanding cases.

We mainly operate in the districts of Schwyz, Gersau, Küssnacht am Rigi, and Einsiedeln, as well as in the Lucerne lakeside communities of Vitznau, Weggis, and Greppen. We are contractual partners of the Lucerne Cremation Association and are responsible for the cantons of Schwyz, Uri, and Zug.
A wide selection of coffins and urns is available. Suggestions for suitable floral arrangements, text templates for obituaries, and acknowledgments are also available. Of course, you can also choose to use only some of our comprehensive services.
