From founder to 25-person team
The owner and managing director, Andreas Mautz, founded MABA Anstalt in Balzers in 2000 and, thanks to ever-growing demand, MABA Schweiz GmbH in 2010. Before starting his first business, he worked for 12 years as an employee in the field of pollutant remediation and fulfilled his dream by founding his own company.
What was once a one-man operation now has 25 employees, enabling the company to take on increasingly larger projects over the years and expand its original business area of pollutant remediation to include technical dismantling and fire protection installations.
Asbestos / PCB
Remediation of asbestos and other hazardous substances
The remediation of asbestos deposits and materials containing asbestos is one of our core businesses and our main activity. We comply fully with the regulations and legal requirements of SUVA and the EKAS guidelinesat all times. We manage all projects from start to finish. The basic steps are:
- Analysis and screening of the property, including taking material samples for precise analysis of asbestos components
- Development of a remediation concept, including cost calculation
- Organization of the construction site, including any necessary external tradespeople (e.g., scaffolders, electricians, etc.) and permits
- When placing an order with our company, notification must be sent to SUVA two weeks before work begins
- Professional remediation of asbestos by our specialists, including the necessary indoor air measurements after completion of the remediation by an independent and SUVA-licensed measurement institute
- Proper disposal of the resulting waste (asbestos, masonry, etc.) in the appropriate and prescribed landfills
- Final discussion of the project and handover of any necessary documents for the authorities and the construction documentation
Depending on the extent and size of the asbestos deposits, the necessary project preparations and remediation measures may differ from the above list.
The start of a remediation project always requires a thorough inspection of the property for possible contaminants. Our services include carrying out the necessary investigations, such as sampling and measurements of the current condition, and then discussing the necessary remediation measures with the customer.
What is asbestos and when is it used? In some cases, asbestos can also pose health risks . Read more about this topic here:
PCB (polychlorinated biphenyls)
PCB (polychlorinated biphenyls) is a synthetically produced mixture of various chlorinated hydrocarbons. Remediation work on PCB-containing sealing joints, coatings, etc. must be carried out by a specialist company. Improper remediation often leads to a significantly higher level of PCB and other pollutants than before the remediation and poses a long-term risk to humans, animals, and the environment.
Take advantage of our experience and modern technical equipment to ensure that your building can also be sustainably freed of PCBs.
Technical dismantling
Renovation and demolition of real estate
Are you planning a renovation, or would you like to re-lay existing cables or have a partition wall installed? Demolition of building fabric may be necessary for a variety of reasons , e.g. if
- pollutant remediation is being carried out and a number of fixtures and technical installations have to be dismantled to allow access so that the pollutant remediation can be carried out correctly and comprehensively.
- the premises are no longer needed/rented and parts of the production equipment and infrastructure such as electrical installations, media lines, foundations, partition walls, etc. remain. In most cases, these must be dismantled before the halls are handed over to the landlord or the new owner in order to restore the premises to their original condition as they were at the start of the lease.
- This may be because a building is being completely renovated or because demolition of the building is planned.
As existing building fabric is increasingly being selectively dismantled rather than simply demolished for renovation or demolition, and the reconstruction/disposal of the building fabric must be adapted to modern requirements, selective, technically sophisticated dismantling is necessary.
We apply environmentally friendly and cost-effective solutions that are tailored to your building. In particular, we naturally take into account environmental aspects such as separation, sorting, and purity of the materials produced with regard to possible contamination with pollutants and existing recycling or disposal options.
When carrying out demolition and dismantling work, suitable, property-specific combinations of procedures must be selected, as no two dismantling projects are alike.
We would be happy to organize this final step in the value chain for you! Please contact us—we look forward to your call!
Fire protection
Prevent fires and protect yourself properly
In addition to our core business of pollutant remediation, we are also active in the field of structural fire protection and are primarily concerned with the installation of fire protection on building components. This can include cladding for steel girders, linings for electrical switch cabinets, spray insulation on concrete ceilings, etc. The applications are very diverse, which is why we are happy to advise and assist you from the ground up. We not only remove outdated fire protection systems, we also install modern fire protection systems that comply with current regulations.
Do you have any questions or would you like a consultation? Then please contact us.
Preventive fire protection
Preventive fire protection is the term used to describe measures that prevent or limit the occurrence, spread, and impact of fires in advance.
Structural fire protection
Structural measures in buildings, for example, are very diverse and range from the building materials and components used (e.g., fire behavior and fire resistance) to structural fire protection (e.g., fire compartments, fire doors, fire protection cladding), escape route planning, and fire extinguishing systems in buildings.
Technical fire protection
In addition to systems for storing and supplying extinguishing water, this also includes fire alarm systems and automatic fire extinguishing systems (e.g., in the form of sprinkler systems and gas extinguishing systems), including the local storage of the associated extinguishing agents. This also includes, among other things:
- Smoke and heat extraction systems (SHE)
- Visual and audible alarm systems, often as part of the fire alarm system
- Smoke extraction systems, for example to support smoke detection in floor or ceiling cavities used for cable routing
- Hold-open systems for smoke protection doors in escape and rescue routes
- Escape door terminals for controlling and monitoring escape doors leading to the outside or to other fire compartments
- Escape and rescue route lighting as part of the safety lighting system (emergency lighting)
- Manually operated fire extinguishers (so-called hand-held fire extinguishers)
- etc.
