PRO-ACOUSTICS GmbH was founded in 2006 by Christine Klockar and Ulrich Scholz as an independent engineering firm based in Baden, Switzerland.

The two company founders have experience in the field of industrial acoustics based on many years of working in an international environment. In addition, both are trained acousticians with degrees in acoustics from renowned universities (Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and Dresden University of Technology, respectively).

Thanks to its in-depth knowledge of customer needs and a comprehensive portfolio tailored to the market, PRO-ACOUSTICS GmbH was able to position itself well from the day it was founded.

We generally use a problem-oriented approach, i.e., it is not the resources that determine the approach, but the problem at hand. The methods are selected according to this problem and, if necessary, new methods are developed.

One of our main areas of focus is sound and vibration protection in the industrial sector, i.e., for workplaces on the one hand, but also for environmental pollution in the wider environment on the other. Our services range from preliminary clarification with and for customers and authorities, to detailed forecasts of individual sound sources and even entire systems, to acceptance measurements.
We are also active in the field of sound source analysis. Here, the first step is a detailed analysis of sound generation and sound radiation (via measurements and theoretical considerations). On this basis, suggestions for optimization can then be developed and implemented.
The employees of PRO-ACOUSTICS GmbH have in-depth experience in the above-mentioned areas, for all types of standard acoustic measurements, as well as experience with special acoustic measurements and vibration measurements. Knowledge in the field of subjective noise perception rounds off our profile.

For example, we have:

• our own test bench for checking the calibration of probe microphones in hot media (currently up to 520°C),
• model test benches for determining the radiation characteristics of chimneys,
• a surface scanning method with results similar to an acoustic camera, but for flexible applications and geometries, higher dynamics, and lower hardware costs,
• experience with acoustic measurements and analyses in the time domain, including surface scanning in the time domain,

Industrial acoustics

Historically, the engineers at PRO-Acoustics GmbH have their roots in industrial acoustics.
Our experience ranges from sound generation, sound radiation, and sound transmission to the receiver. Improvements are usually possible in all areas. However, it is necessary to weigh up where and with what effort the best effect can be achieved.
We provide acoustic support not only for individual products, but also for entire projects. This usually begins with a feasibility study, regulatory approval, followed by detailed acoustic planning of complete industrial facilities, through to implementation and acceptance measurements.

Building acoustics

We offer measurements and consulting services in building acoustics.

Measurements are carried out in accordance with SIA181 and ISO140. We have many years of experience in the field of building services engineering.
Neighborhood noise as well as industrial and commercial noise do not necessarily fall within the scope of building acoustics, but are professionally handled by the engineers at PRO-Acoustics GmbH. In Switzerland, the requirements for this are set out in the Swiss Noise Abatement Ordinance.
Measurements can also be carried out in accordance with the vibration guideline.
Thanks to the SGA certified acoustician examination, the services of PRO-ACOUSTICS GmbH are also recognized by municipalities in Switzerland.

Some examples of our development projects:

• We own a test rig for checking microphone probes in hot environments (up to 520°C), with which we are able to measure calibration curves for measurements in hot environments, with the complete measurement chain,
• Scaled test rigs for the directivity from exhaust stacks,
• We developed a procedure we called surface scan, which gives results like an acoustic camera. It is very flexible and can be used for different geometries, has high dynamics, and reduced hardware requirements.
• We made acoustic measurements in the time domain since the frequency domain was not applicable for the process to be measured, including a surface scan,

PRO-Acoustics does not only work within the field of acoustics for specific products, but is also involved in providing acoustic support during the process of building complete industrial installations. Typically, projects start with a feasibility study, followed by the permitting process with the authorities and the detailed acoustic design of each component in the industrial site. The project is then completed with acoustic performance measurements. We offer support with acoustics every step of the way.

PRO-Acoustics has long-standing experience with noise from HVAC equipment. We can help with the acoustic specification of new buildings as well as troubleshooting existing problems.
In this field, we also include noise control within workplaces, neighborhood noise issues, as well as residents disturbed by outside noise sources such as industrial noise, road noise, rail noise, etc.
