WHAT BREATHING THERAPY LEADS TO:
It can lead to serenity, well-being, clarity, and connectedness, strengthening both the body and the psyche.
Breathing can be controlled both autonomously and voluntarily, thus providing unique access to the autonomic nervous system and the so-called unconscious mind. Breathing as an interface can have a variety of effects on well-being:
Deepening the breath directly influences the pulse and blood pressure (helpful, for example, in cases of cardiovascular disease or stage fright).
The breathing movement (originally the pressure wave of the diaphragm) acts like a gentle massage on the organs and on muscular and bony structures and can have a loosening effect from within (for example, the heart, which lies directly on the diaphragm, gets more room to move).
The individual breathing rhythm reflects one's own measure and indicates the appropriate pace.
The rising and falling of the body walls during breathing allows us to experience inner space and has a balancing effect on muscle tone.
Breathing patterns that have developed and become established during periods of stress or illness, for example, can gradually change.
Deep breathing promotes changes in posture patterns and muscular tension
Access to the unconscious and intuition is strengthened. Ideas and solutions to current challenges may arise spontaneously, but repressed stresses may also surface, seeking resolution.
Experiencing resilience, serenity, inner space, and flowing breath can have a positive effect on the speaking and singing voice and on self-confidence.
Deep breathing shifts the acid-base balance more towards alkaline.
The breathing experience gives pregnant women confidence in the birth process and in themselves. Breathing becomes a partner in pain management and in the expulsion phase.
