Tanz&Kunst Königsfelden

Tanz & Kunst Königsfelden is a cultural enterprise based in Baden and the initiator/organizer of a dance platform that is unique in Switzerland. The institution promotes the diversity of professional dance through the interaction of different musical and dance genres and styles. Supported by the Tanz & Kunst Königsfelden association, in cooperation with the Museum Aargau, Tanz & Kunst Königsfelden has been curated by choreographer and artistic director Brigitta Luisa Merki since its foundation in 2007.

Every two years, renowned international choreographers, visual artists, dancers, musicians, and composers of various styles create productions for the uniquely atmospheric stage space of the monastery church. Alternating annually, large international productions are created alongside educational art projects with children and young people from the canton of Aargau.

Since 2012, Tanz und Kunst Königsfelden has been one of the canton's nine cultural beacons. The offices are located in the Merker area, while the rehearsal studios and storage rooms are in the Oederlin area of Baden.

In 2020 , the Tanz+ residence center was founded. It is an independent facility with studios and a guest house for dance, choreography, music, and performing arts under the umbrella of the Tanz & Kunst Königsfelden cultural beacon association. The initiator of the interdisciplinary residency project is choreographer Brigitta Luisa Merki, artistic director of the Tanz & Kunst Königsfelden dance festival. Thanks to the support of Swisslos Aargau, various foundations, and private donations, the year-round residency program of tanz+ was able to start in March 2021.
