PROVVIDA MADRE

Founded in 1970, the Provvida Madre Foundation welcomes children and adults of both sexes, without age limits, who suffer from mental retardation, often accompanied by physical and/or psychological disabilities.

It offers comprehensive care with the aim of promoting the psychological and physical well-being and development of its residents and, at the same time, in close collaboration with their families, their inclusion in the social fabric.

In addition to nursing care, therapy, and education, the Foundation offers many activities aimed at pursuing the above objectives.

Occupational activities such as gardening, cooking, carpentry, and DIY are complemented by the sale of various products at the La Butega workshop.

In their free time, there is room for music, cinema, horse riding with Mirtillo, walks, and physical activities.

Thanks to its proximity to the center of Balerna, guests of the Provvida Madre Foundation can also enjoy the life of the community that has welcomed them with open arms for some time now.

1. Guiding principles

The Provvida Madre Foundation operates in accordance with the Christian values on which it was founded on December 5, 1970, and in accordance with the civil values of the surrounding socio-political context. Its purpose is to provide facilities and services for minors and adults with disabilities.
The Foundation welcomes children and adults of both sexes, without age limits, with congenital disabilities that may be cognitive, physical, and/or mental.

Objectives

• The psycho-physical well-being of the person welcomed;
• Providing an environment conducive to the best possible development of guests;
• The development and/or maintenance of residual abilities;
• The development of the person's autonomy;
• Collaboration with families;
• Social integration;
• Developing a positive image of the Institute among the population outside the institution.
   

2. Services

The Foundation offers comprehensive care for people with disabilities.
The Institute's activities include:

• The reception and care of young children in the special nursery school;
• The special school;
• Full-time or part-time boarding school, and day school for minors and adults;
• Occupational and leisure activities;
• The provision of various therapies: physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychomotor therapy; water therapy or other individual therapies as required;
• The provision of constant nursing care and assistance.
   

3. Public relations

The Foundation is particularly sensitive and respectful of the expectations of the community.
It actively collaborates with institutions, services, and volunteer organizations.
