About
The Swiss Society for Emergency and Rescue Medicine (SGNOR) was founded on November 23, 1990, initially as an association of prehospital physicians (Swiss Association of Emergency Physicians, VSN).
On March 11, 1995, the foundation stone was laid in Bern for the transformation of the VSN into a professional association. Following consultation with its members, the association has been known since July 1, 1995, as the Swiss Society for Emergency and Rescue Medicine (SGNOR).
In recent years, the SGNOR has become a recognized point of contact for questions relating to the entire spectrum of emergency medicine, including preclinical and in-hospital emergency medicine, as well as disaster medicine. It seeks constructive, enriching cooperation with all those involved in the rescue chain and the authorities—to improve emergency medicine in the interests of emergency patients!
The society now has over 1,200 members.
