Familien Support Bern West sees child and youth welfare as family support.
We support children from the age of 2, young people up to and including the transition to vocational training, and their families with a proven need for social and/or special educational support. We work with families who want support in relation to their children's development or who are required to accept it by the authorities.
Social education support and care services, individually or in combination
For the benefit of the children and young people, and for the purpose of sustainable inclusion and integration, we systematically involve their parents, their environment, and the relevant specialist agencies. Together, we develop effective forms of support using the following service modules:
- Accompanying and supporting families in the appropriate location
- Caring for children and young people in day care and residential groups to supplement family care
- Accompanying parents in parenting issues and in gathering new everyday experiences with their children
- Exploring, activating, and coordinating support in the family's environment
- Coordinating family councils
Teaching is based on Curriculum 21. We take into account the individual abilities, skills, and needs of our students. Our goal is to provide them with educational experiences and learning successes that are relevant to everyday life.
The children and young people explore their potential in flexible teaching formats and develop their skills at their own pace in a supportive learning environment. The teachers encourage, challenge, and support them on their learning journey in a way that is as tailored to their needs as possible.
A positive attitude and the careful promotion of skills, supported by social rituals, clear structures, and rules, enable students to learn solution-oriented learning and behavior patterns.
We always encourage and support children and young people to take further steps towards independence, mainstream schooling, and vocational training. Parents play an important role in this. We work closely together.
