The Biasca and Surrounding Areas Water Treatment Consortium aims to manage and guarantee all activities and infrastructure dedicated to wastewater treatment in the municipalities belonging to the consortium, operating in compliance with the environment and current regulations.

💦⚙️ Water Line – Treatment Plant

The wastewater treatment plant is located south of Biasca, in the Alla Giustizia area, and is structured in three treatment phases:
mechanical, biological, and chemical.

🔧 Stage 1 – Mechanical Treatment

• Removal of coarse solid materials using screens (rags, paper, plastic, wood, etc.)

• Circular sand trap with sand removal and washing

• Primary settling for the separation of settleable solids

🧬 Phase 2 – Biological Treatment

• Activated sludge treatment, with air insufflation to promote the development of aerobic microorganisms

• Elimination of residual biodegradable pollution

• Final decantation with sludge separation by gravity

• The treated water is discharged into the Ticino River 🌊

• The biological sludge is partially reused, while the surplus is dehydrated and sent to digesters

⚗️ Phase 3 – Chemical treatment

• Controlled dosing of chemical reagents toremove phosphorus dissolved in the water
