The black fire inspection

1. As part of their cleaning work, chimney sweeps ensure that heating systems comply with the applicable fire safety regulations .
2. He draws up a report on any defects and sets deadlines for their rectification.
3. Depending on the potential damage, appropriate deadlines must be set for rectifying the defects.
4. The district chimney sweep reports any defects that are not rectified within the deadline to the municipal fire inspector.
5. The district chimney sweep keeps track of the defects found in each municipality.

Rectification of defects

1. The owners and operators of buildings and facilities are responsible for ensuring that the identified defects are rectified professionally within the specified deadlines.
2. If requirements and measures are disregarded, the chimney sweep, the municipality, the Bern Building Insurance Company, or BECO must ensure that they are implemented.

Tasks of the chimney sweep

• For a better understanding, the chimney sweep supplements each defect with a proposal for rectification.
• To ensure that the defects can be clearly assigned to the property, the defect report must contain the following information:
  • Name of the contact person (customer)
  • Name of the municipality
  • Property address
  • Building number
• The defect list can be given to the customer with the receipt or enclosed with the invoice.
