China Medtao
TCM and acupuncture in Brig, Spiez
We are a practice for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Brig and Spiez. Our TCM doctor is originally from China. She studied for five years at the TCM University in Henan and has 23 years of professional experience in her field: acupuncture, massage, cupping, and phytotherapy. She worked for a long time in a Chinese hospital and then in an English medical practice. She has now founded China Medtao here in Switzerland. Traditional Chinese medicine is used very successfully to treat all kinds of ailments, both physical and mental. Its primary goal is to help people achieve inner and energetic balance, thereby activating the body's own healing powers.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture uses needles to influence the flow of qi. The defined acupuncture points, which according to TCM theory are located on 12 meridians (energy channels), are pricked and stimulated in different ways with fine needles to treat the symptoms. In 1980, the World Health Organization (WHO) recommended acupuncture for 43 different conditions.
Tuina massage
Tuina massage uses more than 20 different techniques, e.g., pushing, pressing, kneading, and pinching. The therapist uses their hands and elbows to directly stimulate specific acupuncture points. The resulting stimulation of blood circulation in the body has a beneficial effect on pain and tension. Certain Tuina massage techniques are comparable to the manipulations used in chiropractic treatment.
Cupping
Cupping involves creating a vacuum in so-called cupping glasses. These cupping glasses are placed directly on the skin with the idea of using the vacuum to remove toxins through the skin.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion refers to the process of additionally heating dried, fine mugwort fibers (moxa) on or above specific therapy points located on the meridians. Blocked energies are released and can flow again. At the same time, blood circulation is stimulated. The procedure generates a pleasant warmth at specific points on the body.
Phytotherapy
Herbal medicine plays an important role in traditional Chinese medicine, with over 13,000 documented medicinal plants. In Switzerland, 150 to 250 plants and plant parts are used as medicines in Chinese phytotherapy. Thanks to the Swiss company complemedis, these herbal medicines are available in Switzerland in tested and high-quality form.
