Liability law

Liability law deals with the question of whether someone who causes damage to another person is liable for it or not. The party causing the damage may be a private individual, the state, or a company. Liability law issues arise in the following cases, for example:

• You were the victim of a traffic accident

• You were injured as a patient during a medical procedure or treatment

• You were the victim of an accident at your workplace because your employer violated their duty of care

• You have been harmed by a defective product

In such and similar cases, we offer you out-of-court advice vis-à-vis insurance companies and representation in court to enforce your claims for damages and compensation.

 

Social security law

Social security law covers all branches of the Swiss social security system. Specifically, these are:

• Old age and survivors' insurance (AHV)

• Supplementary and additional benefits (EL and ZL)

• Occupational pension plans and pension funds (PK)

• Accident insurance (UV)

• Unemployment insurance (ALV)

Private insurance law

Private insurance law deals with disputes with insurance companies that you have taken out yourself and which are now, for example, refusing to pay benefits or are making claims against you. Most of the time, this involves:

• Life insurance

In many cases, problems also arise with social security or liability insurers. In such complex legal cases, you benefit from our specialist knowledge and many years of experience.

Family law

Family law governs the legal relationships between private individuals who are related to each other.
This includes, for example:

• Divorce

• Marriage protection and separation

• Child protection

• Protection of adults

If one spouse wants to separate or divorce, various issues need to be clarified in this context: Who stays in the home and who has to move out? Who do the children live with? What are the visiting rights? Does one spouse have to pay alimony to the other? How much is this alimony in detail? Is there any property that needs to be divided?

Tenancy law

Your landlord has terminated your lease or refuses to adjust your rent to the changed reference interest rate, you disagree with the utility bill or with the final bill after you move out... we advise and represent you in such and similar problems vis-à-vis your landlord and before Swiss conciliation authorities and courts.

Cost

• It is good to know that in a liability case, attorney's fees are generally considered part of the damages and are therefore to be paid by the party responsible for the damage or their insurance company, and not by the injured party.

• It is good to know that many health insurance companies offer supplementary insurance that includes legal protection in health matters.

• It is good to know that in court proceedings, the lawyer's and court costs are covered by the court if one of the parties to the proceedings does not have sufficient funds to bear them.

We always clarify the costs at the beginning of the mandate. We always check whether the costs can be covered by third parties (legal protection insurance, professional associations, health insurance companies, etc.).
