DOG LOVERS CLUB - SPORTS CLUB

The Monte Generoso Dog Club has been active in the field of dog breeding for 60 years.

Its main purpose is to promote comprehensive dog training for owners and their dogs, of any breed and age. From 2-month-old puppies (with all the difficulties of integrating into a new human environment) to older dogs with their age-related issues, the club organizes events, competitions, conferences, exhibitions, and publications, promotes friendly relations among members, and fosters a spirit of community.

The new headquarters are located at Via Sant'Apollonia 46 in Coldrerio and cover an area of approximately 12,000 square meters. The new modern and functional headquarters has a large multipurpose room, bar, kitchen, office, and restrooms, as well as a large porch. The outdoor facilities include a field reserved for puppies, two training fields, a dog toilet, more than 80 parking spaces, and a children's play area.

The club has around 80 members, including 40 supporters and 40 active members in various sports disciplines (companion dogs, tracking and scent work, medical search and rescue dogs, dummy training and retriever dogs in group 8). During the basic training and EDU plus courses, approximately 200 dogs of all breeds and ages are trained annually, including the 30 breeds subject to authorisation. Eleven cantonal test days (approximately one per month) are held annually in collaboration with the Cantonal Veterinary Office in Bellinzona. During the test day, approximately 10-12 pairs are evaluated. The association has trained 15 UCS-DIC certified instructors, three of whom are also cantonal judges.

The committee is composed of five members: Filippo Ortelli (chairman), Athos Fontana (vice-chairman), Sonja Vittuoni (treasurer and PR), Genny Cereghetti (secretary), and Massimiliano Gilardoni (member and logistics).
