It all began in 1997, in the heart of the village of Courtelary. Trained as a saleswoman but passionate about cooking, Madeleine had been dreaming of striking out on her own for some time. She dreamed of freedom and found a garage that she converted into a kitchen. Her only equipment consisted of a few pots and pans... and a determination to move the mountains that surround the valley. Already, the call of the open sea was strong. We'll come back to that later.
The Catholic parish placed its first catering order with her: a "complete Chinese fondue" for 12 people. Word of mouth gave her very good reviews. The high quality of the dishes contributed to her reputation for consistency, professionalism, and reliability. Barely three years after its launch, Madeleine Traiteur was no longer a dream, but a reality.
The year is 2000. The small business acquires the building located at 29 Grand-Rue. It now has a real production laboratory and a store for meat products. Success is established, and turnover increases rapidly.
A new phase began in 2005-2006, when Madeleine Traiteur developed a dedicated events division. It organized its first turnkey events, providing tableware and service staff and taking care of the decorations. Everything was designed and organized with the customer's well-being in mind.
The company earned its stripes. Surrounded by a team of dynamic and motivated young professionals, Madeleine became increasingly inventive, without ever straying from the principles of artisanal expertise. Her aspiration for gastronomic excellence was rewarded in 2008 with a contract for high-end catering services in the watchmaking industry. She had just pushed open the padded doors of Baselworld.
But the crisis was looming. The years 2009 and 2010 saw a slowdown in business. The company was also affected. Like a reed, it bent but never broke. It avoided any layoffs and instead took advantage of this period to take another step forward. It developed new products: verrines, canapés, skewers... The focus was on decoration and creativity. The company did not hesitate to showcase silver and gold.
The M.evolution range, a luxury catering service par excellence, is born. A magnificent 30-page brochure illustrates the approach. The company conquers Basel, as we have seen, and sets its sights on the Lake Geneva region and its extraordinary potential.
Without ever renouncing the simple cuisine of its early days, which is offered daily, Madeleine Traiteur has been building on its strengths since 2011: its artisanal know-how, the diversity of its offerings, and its ability to adapt to all requests. Its motto: tailor-made.
