Eidgenössisches Starkstrominspektorat ESTI

ESTI is the supervisory and control authority for electrical installations that are not subject to the Federal Office of Transport (FOT). It ensures that these installations are planned, constructed, and maintained in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. This includes high-voltage installations, low-voltage installations, and low-current installations.

ESTI's activities are geared towards ensuring electrical safety for people, animals, and property. Furthermore, ESTI promotes the safe use of electricity by maintaining the safety of electrical installations and products in Switzerland at a high technical standard. Finally, as the leading or specialist authority, ESTI ensures that electrical installations are planned, constructed, operated, and dismantled in a manner that takes into account the interests of spatial and environmental planning as well as third parties. ESTI's supervisory and control activities cover low-voltage installations, high- and low-voltage systems, and market surveillance of electrical products. ESTI keeps its own accounts and is supervised by the DETEC.
