The Swiss Confederation, through FAMH, CMCQ, and Santé Suisse, attaches great importance to the quality of non-clinical in vitro tests carried out by medical analysis laboratories.
These good laboratory practices are based on international regulations and ISO standards (15189 and 9001), which guarantee consistent qualitative and quantitative results across laboratories, regardless of physical boundaries.
ISO standards standardize laboratory practices in all stages: pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical, as well as the logistics of management between the various parties involved in the laboratory's operations: FMH prescribers, FAMH scientists, technical staff, transporters, IT specialists, suppliers, and others.
ISO standards provide the means for self-monitoring of operational activities at all levels and for dynamic correction and improvement of services and performance.
Good laboratory practices aim to achieve harmony and respect for the staff involved and the environment in order to guarantee the best value for money for the patient.
