The City of Geneva organizes funerals and supports bereaved families. It also manages funeral facilities.

Since 1866, the City of Geneva has offered a funeral service that provides dignified funeral arrangements, from registering the death with the Civil Registry Office to burial or cremation. Its services ensure that all official formalities are completed and help families resolve the practical issues raised by a death.

The Funeral, Cemetery, and Crematorium Service also advises and supports bereaved families while helping them avoid unnecessary expenses. In particular, it provides free funerals under certain conditions and offers to cover the costs for members of La Flamme.

Appropriate infrastructure

The management and maintenance of funeral facilities guarantee high-quality services. In addition to the four municipal cemeteries and the Ange de la Consolation chapel, the department manages two funeral centers.

On-call

The Funeral, Cemetery, and Crematorium Service assists families with administrative procedures andfuneral arrangements. An on-call service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to ensure that the deceased is taken care of quickly. For funeral arrangements, the Funeral Services Department staff are available by appointment.
