Basics of joint technology

Joint width
The joint width is usually between 10 mm and 35 mm. The depth of the sealant must not be less than 8 mm.

Sanitary joints
For sanitary joints, ensure that there is a sufficiently large gap between the floor and wall connections and in the corners of the room. If the joint is faulty or too narrow, even highly elastic silicone can easily overstretch and cause the joint to tear. For horizontal sanitary joints, hollows and standing water should also be avoided.

Maintenance joints
Maintenance joints must withstand severe chemical and/or physical demands. Regular inspection and replacement is therefore essential. Typical maintenance joints are found in wet rooms, swimming pools, drip pans, and also in the chemical industry, sewage treatment plants, gas stations, and filling stations.
