In January 2022, the vue. Eye Center Grenchen was opened as a center of excellence for ophthalmology. It offers high-quality services in all areas of ophthalmology and eye surgery. This also includes highly specialized diagnostic examinations and treatments for the eye.

Dr. Simon Rothenbühler will take over as head of the center on September 1, 2023. During his many years at the University Hospital of Basel, he gained a wealth of experience in general ophthalmology and developed his expertise as a retina specialist.

Dr. Kyriaki Mazaraki joined our team in Grenchen on March 1, 2024. As a specialist in ophthalmology, Dr. Mazaraki has many years of experience in ophthalmology. She has lived in the region for several years and speaks German, English, Greek, and French.

In addition to general ophthalmology, we specialize in surgery of the anterior segment of the eye for cataracts and glaucoma. We have particular expertise in advising on and implanting special lenses.

Another focus is the diagnosis and medical treatment of macular diseases, diabetes, age-related macular degeneration, and retinal vascular occlusion. Here, we can draw on years of experience and the development of our own successful treatment plans.

Special expertise in the field of macular, vitreous, and retinal surgery now enables us to offer complex surgical procedures on the anterior and posterior segments of the eye using minimally invasive, sutureless surgical techniques in Biel as well. A modern, well-equipped operating room is available for this purpose at the center.
