What is occupational therapy?

Occupational therapy is a medically prescribed treatment used to help people of all ages with congenital or acquired limitations in their ability to cope with everyday life and perform everyday tasks.

The therapy develops, maintains, or relearns skills for maximum independence in everyday life. Occupational therapy is based on the assumption that being active and taking action are basic human needs and that meaningful activities carried out in a targeted manner have a health-promoting effect.
