Who we are and what we do

Since early summer 2019, Kathrin and Urs have been running a small farm shop in the garden of their home in Herzogenbuchsee, called BIO FASS. There, they sell KOSTBARE products from Oberbützberg (municipality of Bleienbach). Everything that grows is offered at BIO FASS. Urs Ledermann took over his parents' farm in Bleienbach in 2014 and has been running it according to organic farming guidelines since 2018. The farm comprises 24 hectares of land, 10 hectares in Bleienbach and 14 hectares of leased land in Rüfenacht. The hilly grasslands surrounding the farm are grazed by retired cattle. Urs' parents still actively help out.

Visit our organic farm shop on Turnstrasse in Herzogenbuchsee – we look forward to seeing you. At BIO FASS, we offer whatever is currently growing or can be stored: snow peas, runner beans, dried beans, tomatoes, plums, carrots, Swiss chard, beetroot, apples, sweet cider, cabbage, savoy cabbage, walnuts, Brussels sprouts, carrots, and potatoes with Härd Erika and Désirée. We process the beetroot into beetroot salad in jars. Just unscrew the lid, add a little oil, and it's ready to eat. High-proof spirits are available to order, including the much-loved quince liqueur, plum Bätzi, apple Vieille Pomme, Pflümli, and cherry schnapps. In addition to potatoes, vegetables, and fruit, we grow wheat, spelt, and sunflowers on larger areas. The sunflower seeds are harvested and legumes are grown. The dried protein bombs are available in 400g bags: light and dark chickpeas, green lentils, and black beans. Black beans act as nitrogen fertilizer for the soil because they have the amazing ability to convert CO2 into nitrogen that is available to plants and make it available for the next crop. In other words, they transport natural fertilizer into the soil. A perfect crop for crop rotation. Lentils and chickpeas, which Urs has been growing since 2022, have a similar effect on the soil.

Our vision is that all products produced on the farm should reach consumers as directly as possible. Whether it's catering, organic unpackaged and natural food stores, or genuine direct marketing at BIO FASS, what's important to the young farming family is direct feedback, appreciation, and exciting exchanges that repeatedly lead to new product ideas.
