Art: Rolf Knie's passion is the circus. His life story reveals the many facets and stages of the circus world; Knie was born into the creative cosmos of the fascinating world of the circus ring. He presents himself as artistically transparent and human, in short, authentic.

Rolf Knie is always exploring boundaries. He seeks direct dialogue between audience and viewer and constantly redefines his subject matter. The artists, acrobats, clowns, and exotic animals, but also his own experiences and, last but not least, life in the circus world are reflected in his pictorial painting. He acts as an artist in front of an audience in much the same way as he does as an artist in front of the canvas.
This raises the question of how performing arts can be reconciled with visual arts. How can the term "art" be manifested? Ultimately, everything comes together for Rolf Knie. He succeeds in striking a balance, shifting between genres—it couldn't be more empathetic and immediate. Rolf Knie's extensive body of work, including paintings, sculptures, and drawings, has found its way into renowned collections. Exhibitions in Switzerland and abroad confirm his success and his position in contemporary art. The Rolf Knie Gallery in Jona presents his current works in its permanent exhibition.
