Practice located in the city center for the treatment of various foot conditions
Why see a podiatrist?
The foot is a fundamental part of the human body: it supports our weight, allows us to walk and move around... It is therefore important to take care of it. There is no age limit for consulting a podiatrist and starting treatment: children, teenagers, adults, and the elderly can all be affected by foot problems that impact their gait and make certain sports or even everyday activities difficult. So don't hesitate to contact a podiatrist if you are experiencing pain.
The role of the podiatrist
A podiatrist is a healthcare professional who specializes in feet. They mainly treat nail and skin conditions. The aim is to relieve pain but also to understand its causes. Podiatrists must also share some of their knowledge with patients (daily monitoring, hygiene, proper nail cutting, actions to avoid, choice of footwear, etc.) so that they can take care of their feet on a daily basis.
When should you see a podiatrist?
- Abnormal wear and tear on shoes.
- Pain when walking or during sports, in the feet, legs, back, and more generally in the entire musculoskeletal system.
- Skin and nail problems: corns, calluses, deformed nails, ingrown nails, fungal infections, etc.
- You are preparing for a hike or a marathon: the podiatrist will offer you an assessment to prevent any injuries related to static and dynamic disorders of the lower limbs; they will also give you valuable advice on how to protect your feet.
- You are concerned about your children's gait.
- You are diabetic: your feet require special attention. The podiatrist will provide preventive care and explain what you need to do to protect them from potential injury.
- Prevention, protection, or correction of hallux valgus, claw toes, etc.
- Help in choosing the ideal shoes or sneakers.
Podiatry consultations in La Chaux-de-Fonds
At the Astrid BEDDELEEM practice, she can treat all skin and nail problems and provide you with the best advice on how to treat structural deformities. She can also provide comprehensive care for diabetic patients. Diabetes complications affecting the feet are closely linked to a decrease in nerve sensitivity, preventing the perception of small injuries or abnormalities of the foot (corns, calluses, cracks, fissures, fungal infections, etc.), which eventually worsen and become infected.
Remember to have your feet checked regularly to keep them healthy
Seeing your podiatrist regularly will allow you to monitor your feet and prevent potential complications. You will also receive advice on everyday care.
Podiatrists are required to undergo training throughout their careers to keep their knowledge up to date in a constantly evolving medical world.
Where can you find the podiatry practice?
The practice is located in the center of La Chaux-de-Fonds, a 5-minute walk from the CFF train station and right next to the "CF Espacité" bus stop (lines 301, 302, 312, 352, 371, 450). The practice is located in the premises formerly occupied by Marie-Anne JACOT, whose business was taken over by Astrid BEDDELEEM in January 2020.
