Cement grout
Cementitious grouting is not acid-resistant. Prolonged exposure to cleaning agents will damage the grout. It will become porous and cracked. Water can penetrate behind the covering through such cracks and cause water damage over the years.

Silicone grout
Silicone grout is elastic and soft, absorbing movement and tension in the substrate to a certain extent. If the movement becomes too great, it will tear. Even small cracks can cause damage over time.

Unfortunately, these joints are also susceptible to fungus. Soap residues, skin flakes, and high humidity are ideal conditions for fungus to form.

Our tips

• Wet the cement joints thoroughly with the shower head before cleaning. The joint is saturated with water and thus absorbs less acid.
• Do not leave the cleaning agent to work for too long. It is better to apply the agent directly to the cloth and rub the surfaces by hand.
• After showering, wipe the wall covering with a rubber scraper to reduce the amount of limescale that forms on the tiles.
• Keep the silicone joints as dry as possible. Wipe them with a cloth after showering.
