Photogare
Yves Burdet was born on September 4, 1959.
He discovered photography at the age of 10 thanks to a small Pocket Kodak camera. Fascinated by the magic of images captured with light, he wanted to learn more and develop his knowledge of this means of expression. One day, while rummaging around in the basement, he discovered an old Rolleiflex camera and a black-and-white darkroom that his father had discarded. Already a handyman at heart, he salvaged, dusted off, and restored everything and took over the family bathroom to develop his photos. This marked the birth of a vocation and the beginning of a rich and long professional career. A few years later, he met photographer Oscar Strimmer, who was based on Rue de la Gare in Morges. It was Strimmer who taught Yves all the tricks of the trade. At that time, photographers made their own developer and fixer. After several years working with Mr. Strimmer and training at a school in Munich, Yves took over the business in 1983, renaming it Photo Gare Morges. He has been THE photographer in Morges for over 40 years!
He has, of course, kept up with technological developments, moving on to color film and now to the world of computers, but he still often works with the old processes. Yves Burdet is also a trainer and expert responsible for the final apprenticeship exams for photography specialists. He is also a lecturer at the Vevey School of Photography.
