The firm V. Willemin, G. Ponsart, L. Zumbach and M. Rérat was founded in 1972 by François Boillat, who had obtained his law degree in 1969 and had been working for three years as a clerk at the Supreme Court of the Canton of Bern.

The workload quickly became so heavy that in 1978 he took on Yves Richon, one of his former interns, as a partner.

Since then, the firm has continued to grow, and a second office was opened in Delémont in 1979.

Vincent Willemin, then a judge at the Administrative Court of the Canton of Jura, joined the firm as a new partner in 2000.

In 2010, the firm welcomed Gwenaël Ponsart, in 2017 Loretta Zumbach as new partners, and in 2020 Mélanie Bouvier-Rérat as an associate. The firm currently consists of four lawyers, including two women, practicing mainly at the Bern and Jura bars, two trainee lawyers, three secretaries, and one MPC intern.

Due to its rigorous ethical standards, its independence from any economic, political, or social group, and its professionalism, the firm has always enjoyed a good reputation in the region and beyond.
