Are you looking for a therapy that will help you rediscover your inner balance? One that touches you on the levels of body, mind, and soul? Shiatsu releases tension in the body and stimulates the body's self-regulating powers.
Shiatsu is a recognized method of complementary therapy rooted in traditional Far Eastern philosophy and health teachings, which views the human being as a unity of body, soul, and spirit. Shiatsu originated in Japan as an independent form of treatment and literally translates as "finger pressure."
The central guiding principle of Chinese medicine (TCM) is the concept of life force—ki energy—which is present in all living things. In our bodies, this energy flows through the meridians, which run throughout the entire body. These represent energetic connections between organ and life functions and ensure the interaction between body, soul, and spirit. Every illness, every pain, indeed every disharmony of both a physical and psychological nature, is, in a holistic sense, an expression of an imbalance in our body's energies. These disturbances in the flow of energy can be sensed as imbalances in a person's energy balance, often before they manifest themselves as illnesses. These imbalances can be addressed with differentiated techniques through direct touch. Pressure is applied to areas of tension with the hands, elbows, or knees in order to balance them out, while weak areas are "nourished/stimulated." Stretching and joint rotations are also performed to stimulate or calm the meridian energy throughout its entire course.
The special art of Shiatsu lies in focusing entirely on the individual and their energetic state. Each person is seen and accepted in their uniqueness.
