Missions

Serving more than 1,600 establishments and nearly 10,000 jobs in Vaud

Serving professionals in the restaurant and hotel industry in Vaud, Gastrovaud represents more than 1,600 establishments. Our association provides a wide range of services, from professional training to defending the interests of the industry, as well as the many services offered by its partners.

Founded in 1892, Gastrovaud is the largest employers' association for the hotel and restaurant industry in the canton of Vaud. Its services are as follows:

 

Vocational training

In collaboration with the State of Vaud, Gastrovaud offers numerous courses at its professional center in Pully. These courses are aimed in particular at the following audiences:

 

• People who want to take over or open an establishment. Gastrovaud provides them with compulsory courses in preparation for the exam and to obtain the cantonal certificate of aptitude and the diploma for an establishment license or simple authorization.
• People who wish to consolidate their knowledge in the field of catering. Gastrovaud offers four courses in restaurant management, accounting, tourism, sales and service, and cooking. These courses are recognized throughout Switzerland and, if successful in the exams, allow graduates to enroll in courses preparing them for the federal certificate and diploma.
• Apprentices. Each year, Gastrovaud welcomes several hundred apprentices working in the hotel and restaurant industry, as well as in baking, as part of inter-company courses organized in Pully.

 

Services to businesses

As an employers' association, Gastrovaud offers its member companies all the services they need for their activities, in particular:

• A compensation fund (1st pillar) and a pension fund (2nd pillar): GastroSocial
• A fiduciary specializing in the hotel and restaurant industry: Gastroconsult
• Legal advice, thanks to the services of the umbrella association Gastrosuisse
• First-hand information on industry news and trends, thanks to the national weekly Gastro Journal and the French-speaking weekly Le Cafetier.

 

Defending, promoting, and representing the industry

Gastrovaud also has the mission of defending, promoting, and representing the interests of the industry in an increasingly complex political, economic, and legal context.

 

Defending employers' interests

Active in several public, semi-public, and private bodies at the cantonal and federal levels, Gastrovaud representatives vigorously promote the interests of their members. In particular, they are committed to fighting the excessive tax, legal, and regulatory burdens that constantly threaten the industry and to defending an open and responsible market economy, in line with the social partnership that has made our country so successful.

 

Promotion of the industry

While some professions are not very visible, those in the restaurant industry are constantly in the spotlight due to their public and social dimension. Gastrovaud's mission is therefore to promote the image of the industry to the media, the general public, and its members. The association responds to numerous requests by participating in trade shows, conferences, interviews, and small and large-scale events.

 

Representing the industry

Due to its structure, Gastrovaud acts as an ambassador for its members at all levels. The association defends the interests of café, restaurant, and hotel owners in Vaud within national hospitality and catering bodies, relaying their positions at the cantonal and local levels. Finally, our regional sections offer each member a local structure and a dense network of contacts.
