Prevention
Oral and dental hygiene
Tooth decay and gum disease are predominantly behavior-related conditions. With the help of professional prophylaxis measures, systematic oral and dental hygiene, and a health-conscious diet, they can almost always be avoided.
You yourself must take responsibility if you want to smile with healthy teeth for the rest of your life. We advise and support you with your prophylaxis program.
Dental hygiene
Professional teeth cleaning
Professional teeth cleaning serves to prevent and maintain the health of your teeth and gums. Regular professional teeth cleaning can prevent damage and expensive repairs later on.
It is recommended that you have this professional cleaning done every 6 months at your dental practice. It goes beyond the usual removal of plaque and tartar and complements the standard check-up.
Regular checkups
Early detection of oral diseases
Malignant diseases of the oral mucosa (oral cancer) do not develop suddenly "overnight," but develop from preliminary stages over a long period of months and sometimes years. These preliminary stages are often visible to the naked eye of a specialist. Through regular examination of the mouth, preliminary stages can be detected and subsequently eliminated.
Preventive care for children
Protect your children's teeth
Children's preventive care includes tooth brushing lessons, nutrition education, professional teeth cleaning, and tooth sealing.
Let us advise you on a healthy diet and proper dental care for children, and bring your child in for regular children's prophylaxis. Our prophylaxis team will playfully teach children how to brush their teeth properly, clean, fluoridate, and seal their teeth.
Sports protection for teeth
In recent years, our leisure activities have changed enormously. With certain trend sports, the importance of jaw protection has also taken on a whole new significance.
Unfortunately, experience in practice shows that mouth guards are often only ordered after the jaw or a tooth has been damaged.
Preventive measures must be given top priority here.
In modern dentistry, effective mouth guards that are comfortable to wear are no longer a problem. In collaboration with our practice, specially trained dental technicians manufacture your individually customized mouth guard.
The exact fit not only provides perfect shock absorption, but also allows you to speak, drink, and breathe effortlessly. Mouth guards are an important form of all-round protection because they protect the teeth, gums, jawbone, and joints equally.
For your own safety, the following sports should never be practiced without a mouthguard:
So you can smile with healthy teeth for a lifetime.
Teeth whitening
We'll make your smile shine again
White teeth are particularly attractive and well-groomed. They have a positive influence on self-confidence, making you appear cheerful, open, and content. Unfortunately, teeth are not always naturally white, but often discolored, making them appear significantly less appealing.
With professional, supervised home bleaching, we gently and carefully whiten your teeth within 2-3 weeks and help you achieve a naturally white smile.
Power whitening
Some people can't wait to have whiter teeth as quickly as possible. There is a solution for this too: bleaching at the dentist's office – after just one hour, you will have visibly whiter teeth.
Powder jet teeth cleaning
Our dental hygienists use the Airflow device to remove stubborn stains. It works in a similar way to sandblasting—but of course not with sand, but with a soft glycine powder, which we now use in a variety of flavors. If you haven't experienced it yet, you probably can't imagine how pleasant teeth cleaning can be. Afterwards, you will feel thoroughly clean, and not scratched for three days as you used to.
Tooth jewelry
Would you like to give your radiant smile that special something?
Then tooth jewelry is just the thing for you! The gemstone, also known as a twinkle, is gently and painlessly bonded to your tooth within a few minutes using a transparent plastic. Your teeth remain intact. The gemstone does not interfere with speaking or eating and allows you to continue your usual dental care routine.
If you no longer like the tooth jewelry after a certain period of time, we can remove it without damaging your teeth.
General
Single tooth anesthesia
A pain-free, gentle treatment technique is crucial.
This is why we do not use traditional injections with anesthetic syringes when treating individual teeth (e.g., fillings, crowns, etc.). Instead, the tooth is anesthetized using the modern intraligamentary (Peripress) technique.
This is a major advantage, especially for patients who are afraid of needles:

Don't worry, you won't feel a thing! Read more here
Rubber dam
A non-latex "plastic tent" is used to completely isolate the tooth or dental arch to be treated from the oral cavity. This allows old fillings (such as amalgam) to be completely removed without coming into contact with the mucous membrane and oral cavity, and without the foreign material being swallowed.
Absolute drying using a rubber dam has become an indispensable part of modern tooth preservation measures (e.g., composite/ceramic fillings, root canal treatments) and is a must for optimal and promising therapy.
That is why we use rubber dam in our practice whenever possible.
Our dental treatments in detail
Conservative (preservative) dentistry
This area of dentistry encompasses all tooth-preserving measures such as filling therapy with plastic materials (aesthetically high-quality plastic) or with inlay fillings (ceramic, gold).
In the event of inflammation of the tooth nerve, root canal treatment can enable the tooth to be preserved. For this purpose, we use special instruments for preparation (mechanical preparation) and length determination (endometry) of the tooth. The advantage of this is that the number of X-rays required during root canal treatment can be reduced.
Periodontology (gum treatment)
Fighting plaque
The term "periodontium" refers to the structures surrounding the tooth: bone, gums, and fibers that hold the tooth in the bone. These tissues can become infected and inflamed by bacteria, a condition we call "gingivitis" or "periodontitis" (periodontal disease).
Inflammation in the mouth affects the entire body and can impact the heart, brain, blood sugar, respiratory tract, joints, and increase the risk of premature birth.
Treatment
Treatment begins with the removal of all hard and soft deposits (tartar and plaque). This is accompanied by instructions on how the patient can prevent these deposits with their daily oral hygiene routine. These initial steps are usually carried out by the dental hygienist, or in severe cases by Dr. Tritten himself. In the best case scenario, after this initial phase, only regular hygiene appointments with the dental hygienist at specific intervals are needed to maintain a stable periodontal situation. In the worst case scenario, it is necessary to extract a hopeless tooth. In some cases, however, surgical intervention is also required to stabilize the gum situation or improve it anatomically.
Today, these procedures are performed using minimally invasive techniques with the appropriate tools (magnifying glasses, microsurgical instruments) and, where possible, supported by the right medication to achieve the best possible results. In some cases and in special circumstances, it is even possible to regenerate lost bone or soft tissue.
Know-how and experience
Dr. Tritten completed several years of further training in this field at the Clinic for Periodontology and Bridge Prosthetics at the University of Bern's Dental Clinics. He completed his training with the SSO specialist dentist title for periodontology. All periodontal diseases must first be thoroughly clarified, individually planned, and discussed. Ask us about possible solutions—we will be happy to advise you!
Prosthetics includes fixed and removable dentures. This also includes restorations that are supported by implants.
Fixed dentures include crowns and bridges to restore chewing function and aesthetics in the front and side teeth. There are various materials to choose from (ceramic, precious metals, and non-precious metals), which are individually tailored to the patient's dental situation and wishes.
Removable dentures include prostheses of all types, such as telescopic prostheses, attachment prostheses, implant-supported replacements, and full dentures.
Our high-quality prosthetic work is manufactured in an external laboratory by experienced dental technicians.
In the operating room
Surgical dentistry (or oral surgery) involves surgical procedures on the jawbone, gums, and, in some cases, soft tissue. These range from simple tooth extractions to complex wisdom tooth removals and from complex root tip resections (removal of the root tip) to bone and gum augmentation.
How it works
All surgical procedures are performed under sterile conditions in our practice premises. For these procedures, we have special surgical equipment, instruments, and microsurgical tools at our disposal, which allow us to work with the latest and most successful methods based on our many years of experience.
Know-how and experience
Dr. Tritten completed a one-year advanced training course in this field at the Department of Stomatology and Periodontology at the University of California, San Francisco. All surgical cases must be thoroughly clarified, planned, and discussed in advance. General illnesses and medications must also be taken into account in this planning—we will be happy to advise you!
Firmly anchored
Dental implantology was established over 40 years ago. The most important developments at that time took place in Switzerland and Sweden. Much has changed in the meantime. The shape became screw-shaped, pure titanium and zirconium are used as materials today, and applications have become simpler and more diverse.
What is a dental implant?
Implants are primarily used to replace a lost tooth root. After healing, a prosthetic denture (individual crowns, bridges, or removable prostheses) is attached to it. The bone around the implant is often widened or raised at the same time as the implant is placed, but optimal oral hygiene and regular check-ups with us are prerequisites for long-term success. All implant cases must be thoroughly clarified in advance and individually planned and discussed.
Ask us about possible solutions—we will be happy to advise you!
Endodontics (root canal treatment)
Endodontics or endodontology primarily deals with the treatment of diseases of the inner tissues of the tooth (pulp or dental pulp); this is referred to as root canal treatment. Endodontic treatment includes measures to save the pulp and – if this is no longer possible – to restore bacteria-free conditions in the root canal and the adjacent tissues near the root tip.
The aim is to preserve the tooth and provide lasting protection for the body against problems that can arise from diseased teeth.
Orthodontics (correction of tooth position)
Orthodontics deals with the diagnosis and treatment of misaligned teeth and jaws. The appliances and devices used for this purpose are commonly referred to as "braces."
Invisible dental splints
As the latest treatment option for correcting misaligned teeth, we offer our patients innovative technology using aligners.
With a series of transparent, thin aligners, the patient's teeth move into the desired position during aligner therapy. The aligners are worn for approximately 2 weeks and, millimeter by millimeter, the teeth move to the position calculated by the practitioner.
The treatment aligners do not restrict the patient's quality of life in any way. They are transparent, do not interfere with speech, and can be removed for dental care and eating.
More and more patients not only want healthy teeth, but also have high expectations when it comes to dental aesthetics. Aesthetic, beautiful teeth are the best adornment for a good appearance. After all, the beauty of a face is determined not least by our teeth.
Cosmetic dentistry offers numerous options for achieving the goal of an aesthetic smile through beautiful teeth. We will be happy to explain the options to you.
Holistic dentistry is a form of therapy that goes beyond the mere treatment of symptoms. The mouth and its teeth are part of the human body and therefore interact with it in various ways. Holistic dentistry is recommended in order to determine the causes of certain (dental) diseases.
Holistic dentistry means dentistry that takes the whole body into account
Amalgam fillings have fallen into disrepute in recent years due to the mercury they contain. They can contribute to heavy metal contamination of the body. The consequences can be a wide variety of complaints. Some patients are allergic to mercury or other ingredients in amalgam. Amalgam removal requires a careful and highly professional approach to prevent additional toxic exposure. Our practice has both the necessary equipment and many years of experience to ensure your safety.
