Waste management in the Maloja region is responsible for the environmentally friendly collection, recycling, and disposal of waste generated in the region.

Waste management in the Maloja region is responsible for:

• processing municipal waste and recyclable materials from the affiliated municipalities
• processing all household waste generated in the region for onward transport to the Niederurnen waste incineration plant (KVA)
• the recycling, storage, disposal, and landfilling of all other waste collected
• informing and educating the public about reducing waste volumes and the sensible recycling of waste

To fulfill its tasks, the Maloja region's waste management department operates its own waste management facility, Cho d'Punt in Samedan, and the Sass Grand reactor landfill in Bever. Individual tasks have been outsourced to external companies (collection service).

 

 

Recycling:

• The individual municipalities have collection concepts that include recycling. The Maloja region's waste management department is responsible for recyclable waste, commercial waste, and the management of hazardous waste.
• Bernina Recycling AG is responsible for the acceptance and management of all construction waste generated in the region.
• New at the Sass Grand Bever reactor landfill site: Ecoisellas GmbH is responsible for the acceptance and management of green waste from the Maloja region.
