Steffen Fils: your metal construction expert for nearly 60 years in Thônex-Geneva

Steffen Fils was founded in 1960 by Walter Steffen, a trained electrician. He was joined by his son Thierry Steffen in 1986, a metalworker and locksmith by trade.

During its first 45 years, the company focused on the construction of electrical panels. Since 2005-2006, it has expanded its activities to other areas such as general locksmithing and metal construction (grinding parts, drilling holes, cutting, bending, repairs, etc.).

In their workshop, equipped with all the necessary tools and machinery, Walter and Thierry Steffen work alongside three employees and provide their services to both businesses and individuals.

They often collaborate with architects, landscape designers, and other tradespeople to create metal furniture such as Corten steel flower boxes, custom-designed lounge chairs, replicas of existing mass-produced models, bookcases, store displays, tables, and pedestals for garden statues, etc.

Steffen Fils offers its services for standard metal construction work such as:

Welding

We weld all types of components made of aluminum, stainless steel, and steel.

Turning, punching, and milling

With all the equipment needed for complete machining of parts, we perform turning, punching, and milling operations to make precise cuts in sheet metal.

These processes allow us to add components to an element, such as special hinges to a door.

Plasma cutting

Using plasma technology, we can cut sheet metal according to precise designs (either your own or designs that we can create on request).

Plasma cutting allows us to cut shapes, logos, and all kinds of sheet metal (steel or stainless steel) elements with dimensions between 3 and 50 mm.

We develop plans on a computer and create a DXF format file, which we insert into the plasma machine, which then cuts according to this precise plan.

If you wish to draw the plan yourself, simply send us the file and we will take care of the rest.

Bending and shearing

These techniques, which enable straight cuts to be made in sheet metal, are essential for the creation of standard metal structures such as:

• stainless steel kitchen fittings
• water diverters
• window sills
• door panels
• retention tanks for cisterns, vats, or reservoirs

The sheets can be easily shaped using bending and shearing techniques.

Spray painting

Before delivering a finished product, we prefer spray painting to powder coating, as it produces a finer and more precise result.
