Zimmermann Hubert

My grandfather founded the Zimmermann Vitznau painting business in 1951. A lot has changed since then. Brushes made from natural hair have gradually been replaced by various paint rollers. Covering materials have also undergone continuous development. Whereas my grandfather used old newspapers and used cloths, I now use modern adhesive tapes, films, and fleece, which can be reused several times. I still use the oil paints of yesteryear for outdoor work. Water-based products are gradually replacing synthetic resin paints and solvents. My grandfather used to drive to his customers on a moped and with a ladder wagon. The moped has disappeared—but the ladder wagon has remained. The ladder wagon always serves me well on the Rigi. Once I've taken the Rigi railway up the mountain, I don't need much muscle power to transport my equipment to the customer.
