Elim Wasen is a specialized service offered by the Elim Foundation for parents and children in the canton of Bern. We support mothers, fathers, and pregnant women in challenging life situations and enable them to live with their children in a safe, supportive environment.

Our goal is to empower parents, promote the development of the child, and create a sustainable perspective for an independent family life —without separating parents and children.

Our services in Wasen in the Emmental

24-hour care for parents and children

The main building at Elim Wasen offers parent-child places with professional 24-hour care. Parents live together with their child in a fully furnished residential unit and receive round-the-clock support from an experienced social education team.

This service is particularly suitable for:

• Parents in acute crises

• young or single parents

• Families with increased support needs

• Situations in which protection, stability, and structure are necessary

Assisted living for greater independence

Elim Wasen also offers assisted living in separate apartments in the village of Wasen. This service is aimed at parents who are already taking their first steps toward independence but still require professional support.

The support includes:

• Individual support planning

• Structured weekly routines

• Support with parenting, everyday life, and administrative issues

• Networking with external specialist agencies

Professional support with heart and expertise

The interdisciplinary team at Elim Wasen consists of qualified social education workers who provide holistic support to parents and children. The focus is on:

Kita Wasen – supplementary childcare

The Elim Foundation also includes Kita Wasen, which offers professional childcare and relieves parents in their everyday lives. This allows them to better attend to education, work, or therapy appointments.
