WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT
The waste incineration plant in Weinfelden has been recycling waste from Thurgau and neighboring countries for over 25 years – day in, day out, around the clock. Waste incineration plants need to be completely renovated after 35 to 40 years. The KVA Thurgau association therefore began looking into replacing the plant in Weinfelden at an early stage. It plans to expand the replacement plant in Weinfelden in several stages to create an energy hub. In this way, the waste incineration plant is making an important contribution to the implementation of the energy transition in Thurgau. A preliminary project is currently being developed. It will provide the basis for the credit decision, which the association municipalities are expected to make in 2023.
