Wine plays an important role in our lives. We have been cultivating our own vines in the beautiful town of Eglisau for almost twenty years, and since 2018 also in the neighboring village of Wil im Rafzerfeld. We cultivate the relatively small vineyard area of 1.4 hectares almost exclusively by hand and attach great importance to flawless, high-quality grapes.
Viticulture that is as close to nature as possible is very important to us. From 2022, we will be working organically in our vineyards and also trying out biodynamic practices. The perfectly south-facing steep slopes on the Rhine with their sandstone and loam soils offer ideal conditions for this. And in addition to its beauty, the Rhine also has a very special significance for the microclimate of our vineyards.
In addition to winemaking, we have been active in the wine trade for the past 15 years. These two worlds have repeatedly merged, and our discussions with other producers in Europe and South Africa have provided us with new inspiration for our work with the vines and in the wine cellar. As a result, in addition to our "classics," we are constantly creating new and exciting wines in small quantities.
