Malergeschäft Mäder

After years of experience as a painter and foreman, and after graduating from the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, Walter Mäder founded his own business in Männedorf in 1966. In a small space in a barn, everything that could not be done on construction sites and for customers was renovated and refreshed on many evenings and weekends. He took great pleasure in refurbishing antique furniture, folk art painting, gilding, and using special brush techniques to restore existing wood grains. Limited space and a steadily growing customer base forced him to look for more suitable premises. These were found in Ürikon on Obere Mattstrasse, with a heated storage room, and on Industriestrasse in Stäfa, with a workshop for carrying out preparatory and spraying work.

Sandra Mäder joined the company as the second generation. As a teacher, she was instrumental in training Thomas Mäder and, together with Walter Mäder, passed on her experience and enjoyment of the profession. After completing various further training courses, Thomas Mäder now runs the family business together with his father. The skill and enjoyment of preserving existing structures using various techniques has been passed on to the next generation.
