Welcome to the Sonnenrain residence hall
For people with brain injuries
Our institution is run by the Sonnenrain Zihlschlacht Residential Home Foundation, which was established in 1994. According to its charter, the foundation's purpose is to operate a residential home with employment opportunities to promote and maintain the physical and mental independence of adults with neurological impairments. In 1997, the residential home began operating with four residents and 20 employees. Since then, it has grown steadily.
Since 2000, the residential home has been training specialist staff in the areas of nursing, care, and housekeeping. The QM quality management system is based on the SODK-OST+ reference system. The opening of the Freihofcity external residential group in Kreuzlingen in 2011 was an important milestone. It also includes a studio within walking distance. Today, 50 people live in the residential home, cared for by around 125 employees. The residential home is open around the clock throughout the year.
Care & support as well as employment & work are the areas that define our residential home.
The Sonnenrain residential home has seven residential groups, each with five to eight residents. They are spread across two newer buildings and one listed building, which was renovated in 2015. The Kreuzlingen external residential group provides accommodation for a further seven residents. Social interaction within the group is very important to us. At the same time, we offer a high degree of privacy.
In terms of care and support, we do everything we can to enable our residents to be as independent as possible within the limits of their abilities and to give them personal responsibility. The focus is on activating their resources; their quality of life and individuality are our benchmark.
Meaningful and valuable activities are an important part of the day for many residents of Sonnenrain. The aim is to promote the joy of being active, maintain existing skills and, where possible, develop them further. The focus is on the individual with their resources and needs. The importance of individuality is a common thread running through the entire activity concept.
The services offered by the Sonnenrain residential home are tailored to the needs and resources of its residents. We attach great importance to taking their personal history and social environment into account.
We offer living arrangements that take into account the complexity of each individual's impairment. We believe that it is part of being human to learn and develop throughout one's life. We make this possible by focusing on the strengths and abilities of our residents and supporting them with the goal of achieving the greatest possible independence.
We treat all residents and employees honestly and openly, with appreciation, respect, and the necessary closeness and distance.
We welcome and encourage social contact both inside and outside our residential home. We respect individual habits and lifestyles as well as the right to self-determination.
The quality of our services is regularly reviewed and further developed. Our employees contribute their individual skills to their professional work. They are specifically supported through internal and external training and further education.
