Neue Schule Zürich / NSZ

NEUE SCHULE ZÜRICH, also known as NSZ, is a state-approved private school that was founded in 1942. Our school is located in a converted patrician house with an integrated extension in Zurich's university district and is easily accessible by public transport. With around 200 students, 40 teachers, and small classes, our school is manageable in size, creating a personal atmosphere among all members of the school community.

We run a short-term grammar school, a pre-grammar school secondary school A, and a middle school preparatory class. We focus on the requirements of external examinations: the Swiss Maturity Examination or the Central Entrance Examination (ZAP) for a cantonal school or other middle school.

At our short-term gymnasium, we prepare students for the Swiss Maturity Examination in 8-9 semesters. This education leads to a recognized Maturity Certificate – equivalent to a cantonal school diploma – and entitles students to exam-free admission to all fields of study at Swiss universities, colleges, and universities of applied sciences. We offer a wide range of specialization subjects: biology + chemistry, economics + law, physics + applications of mathematics, Italian, Spanish, art, and music.

Our Secondary School A enables all students to obtain a state-recognized secondary school diploma at Level A and, as a pre-university secondary school, also prepares them for short-term university preparatory school, further secondary school, or vocational training with a vocational baccalaureate. The curriculum of the Canton of Zurich and the use of compulsory teaching materials serve as a basis, which also allows for a later transfer from a public Secondary School A during the school year.
