When you are losing your sight or have already lost your sight, you need to know that help is readily at hand. We are committed to helping blind and visually impaired people to live as independently as possible. We want to create an inclusive society in which blind and visually impaired people have a high quality of life. And we have been working on our mission every day since 1958 in our capacity as a charitable self-help organisation. We are on hand to support and advise visually impaired people and their families at our seven advice centres – at no cost and with no membership required. Our motto is “Looking ahead together”. Founded in Zurich 1904, the Zürcher Brockenhaus is still committed to social and environmentally friendly ethics to this day. That seems more important than ever: two world wars, the development of prosperity in the 1950s, the oil crisis in the 1970s and the collapse in prices in recent decades have led to a thoughtless use of resources and goods. Our carpentry workshop restores, paints, dyes and also creates furniture in small series. We have our own upholstery studio here in-house. Our selection is large and unique.
