Four out of five people in Switzerland will need a blood product at some point in their lives. But only 2.5% of the population donates blood. Yet it's so easy to do something good and save up to three lives in the process. Donating blood doesn't take long: regular donors need around 40 minutes, including the preliminary interview. First-time donors should allow around an hour. A questionnaire is used to check whether all criteria are met. If everything is in order, 450 ml of blood is taken by trained staff. Donors then enjoy a free meal.

 

The SRK Aargau-Solothurn Blood Donation Foundation operates six blood donation centers in the two cantons (Aarau, Baden, Solothurn, Zofingen, Muri, and Olten) and conducts more than 130 blood donation campaigns in over 60 municipalities each year. Donors are advised to make a personal appointment online or by phone at their preferred donation center and to complete the online donation check in advance.
