Preventing the spread of fire

Structural fire protection measures are primarily designed to prevent fires from starting, to limit fires to specific areas, and to keep escape and rescue routes clear of fire so that the fire department can do its job.

Preventive structural fire protection has one goal

In a fire protection concept, all measures designed to guarantee the life and physical integrity of persons must be given priority. In the event of a fire, escape routes should ensure that people can rescue themselves or others at any time. The legal basis includes

• the fire protection standard and fire protection guidelines of the VKG (Association of Cantonal Building Insurers)
• the UVG (Accident Insurance Act)
• the guidelines of the EKAS (Federal Coordination Commission for Occupational Safety)
• the ArG (Labor Law)
• ArGV 3 and 4 (Ordinances 3 and 4 to the Labor Act)
• the VUV (Ordinance on the Prevention of Accidents and Occupational Diseases).
