Welcome
Chinese medicine is based on the assumption that in order to be healthy and vital, the body must be in balance. If certain areas are blocked, too hot or too cold, too full or too empty, too moist or too dry, illness arises. Through a thorough diagnosis involving questions about individual bodily functions and sensations, examination of the tongue, and feeling the pulse, such imbalances are identified and can then be treated and brought back into harmony. This allows illnesses to heal.
It all starts with a conversation. In Chinese medicine, external influences (weather, viruses, poor posture, etc.) are recognized as factors that cause illness, as are emotions. It is therefore important to identify patterns that cause illness in order to create an individualized treatment plan.
Alternative medicine
Alternative medicine is a big topic these days. But what exactly is alternative medicine?
A degree in alternative medicine, such as the one I completed in traditional Chinese medicine with a specialization in acupuncture and tuina, includes many hours of conventional medicine in addition to the specialist subjects. This is to learn about the nature and function of the body, to understand why a disease develops, but also to recognize the signs when a patient needs to be referred to conventional medicine, which in some cases is of course essential.
Nowadays, opinions about alternative medicine are unfortunately still strongly influenced by the attitude that "you have to believe in it" or "if conventional medicine has not helped, then you can try alternative medicine."
This is a great pity, because alternative medicine has hardly any side effects. In contrast, medication side effects can cause damage, as can unnecessary operations. After that, it is also difficult for alternative medicine to heal a person.
Anyone who wants to restore their health using alternative medicine is required to take responsibility for their own health. It doesn't work according to the motto: "Please fix me quickly so that I can function again." Instead, part of the healing process involves identifying the causes and, depending on the situation, making changes to one's lifestyle. At first, this frightens most people, or they are too comfortable to do anything about it. But once you venture down this path, you quickly realize that living more in harmony with your own body and its needs makes you feel more fulfilled and happier.
Acupuncture
The nerve cells conduct electrical impulses using the body's own electricity. In some cases, a brief electric shock occurs when the needle reaches the acupuncture point. This, together with the relaxing effect of regenerating for about 25 minutes in the acupuncture needles, explains the effectiveness of acupuncture.
Pain therapy with acupuncture Problems in the musculoskeletal system, e.g., knees, shoulders, elbows, back, and other pains such as headaches can be treated very effectively with a combination of acupuncture, electroacupuncture, cupping, and massage without side effects.
Illnesses and acupuncture The WHO has published a long list of conditions that can be treated with acupuncture. Are you suffering from something and would like to try an alternative approach, with or without conventional medicine? I would be happy to explain the chances of success or possibilities of treatment with acupuncture for your individual condition. (See also the list at the bottom of the page.)
Psychosomatics and acupuncture A little heart palpitations or stabbing pains, stomach ache, constipation, flatulence or diarrhea, irritability, sleep problems, feeling dissatisfied, listless, tired, excessive sadness for no apparent reason, inner nervousness, beginning to question the meaning of life, always feeling cold or hot, loss of appetite or excessive appetite, etc. Symptoms of this kind show us that we are no longer completely centered. Before they develop into serious illnesses, they are a good indicator of where exactly we are at an impasse or which issues need to be addressed. Acupuncture, combined with an individual consultation that can bring about new ways of thinking, is a wonderful and effective way to feel completely healthy again and find out which direction we want to go in. To unearth our desires, to become aware of them, to reconnect with our life energy.
Health care Regular treatment with a combination of massage and acupuncture or acupressure every 2 to 8 weeks, even if we feel basically well, is a luxury of time and self-indulgence, an oasis from everyday life that can contribute significantly to our well-being and health.
Acupuncture and the regulation of rhythms A regulated digestion, a regular menstrual cycle, restful sleep and vital waking phases, the balance of rest and activity are as much a part of human health as day and night and the changing seasons. Here, too, a combination of acupuncture, counseling, and dietary adjustments offers good support.
Areas of application include, for example:
Allergies: hay fever, asthma, skin diseases
Pain: neck and back problems, lumbago, herniated discs, headaches, migraines, rheumatism, osteoarthritis, gout, fibromyalgia
Digestion: abdominal pain, gastritis, heartburn, flatulence, food intolerances, constipation, diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis
Gynecology: Menstrual disorders, gynecological disorders, fertility issues, menopausal symptoms
Mental health: exhaustion, restlessness, sleep problems, depressive moods, anxiety, cardiac arrhythmia, stress, burnout syndrome
Skin: eczema, acne, itching, neurodermatitis, psoriasis, shingles, hives
Immune system: Chronic infections such as tonsillitis, sinusitis, cystitis, bronchitis, eye infections, susceptibility to flu-like infections
Other: Hypertension, tinnitus, multiple sclerosis symptoms, sexual dysfunction, hormonal disorders, obesity, addictions
Tuina is a form of massage used in Chinese medicine
Depending on the symptoms, I treat with the following elements:
Energy-balancing meridian massage – acupressure
A balancing and harmonizing effect is achieved through targeted massage along the meridians (energy lines) and, if necessary, stimulation of certain acupuncture points (without needles).
Foot reflexology
The feet contain reflex zones for all organs, muscles, the skeleton, and nerves. This means that a foot massage can be used to treat the whole person.
Manual medicine and treatment according to Dorn/Breuss – realigning structures
Back pain is sometimes caused by shifts or misalignments in the pelvis, individual vertebrae, or joints. Massaging the spine with St. John's wort oil and manual medicine can realign the skeleton, create space for the intervertebral discs, and relieve pain in the long term.
Cupping and cupping massage
Cupping is an ancient healing method that, fortunately, has been making a comeback recently. Cupping strengthens the immune system and relieves stubborn tension.
Art therapy as self-awareness
Working with colors and shapes is very exciting and enriching. Being the creator of your own picture is invigorating, and the deep concentration that comes with painting brings us relaxation and a chance to retreat into ourselves. Of course, painting also promotes our creativity, which we can also use in our daily lives.
Free creative expression is one of the basic needs of human beings, and painting is a fundamental skill that we are all born with. All we need is a willingness to experiment and an openness to new things.
The pictures are painted at home, brought to the practice, and discussed. This provides inspiration to release hidden blockages or find a key that opens an unexpected door for the rest of our lives.
NLP
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) helps you to become the artist of your life and actively influence your health and well-being. You learn to shape the quality of your inner images, sounds, and feelings in such a way that joy and courage arise and you live in harmony with this image of yourself. With NLP, you can develop all the potential abilities that are already within you. Good for upcoming decisions, addiction reduction, weight optimization, or when you lack the courage to make changes, etc.
If the condition to be treated involves debilitating illnesses, acupuncture can be used as a nourishing treatment, but in this case, the person also needs something they can take to replenish their reserves. Medicinal mushrooms offer a wonderful opportunity to do this.
Medicinal mushrooms are generally characterized by their high content of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and enzymes. They also contain various secondary ingredients such as polysaccharides. It is precisely the composition of these active ingredients that gives medicinal mushrooms their great potential for anti-inflammatory effects, immune modulation, and protection of the body's cells.
Common areas of application for medicinal mushrooms:
- Strengthening the body's own defenses
- Regulation of gastrointestinal functions
- Strengthening the heart and circulation, improving blood flow and balancing blood pressure
- Positive effect on blood sugar and blood lipid levels
- Modulation of the immune system in cases of allergies and autoimmune diseases
- Gentle balancing in cases of nervousness and mood disorders
- Supportive treatment for cancer and other tumor diseases, including improvement of tolerance to conventional medical therapies
