After more than 20 years at the University Clinic for Neurosurgery at Inselspital in Bern, I opened my own neurosurgical practice on July 1, 2014. The spacious and quiet practice premises are ideally located on the top floor of the main building of Salem Hospital in Bern. The hospital has an underground car park and is easily accessible from the main train station in 10 minutes by public transport (bus no. 10 towards Ostermundigen, to Salem station).

My main interest is in the conservative and surgical treatment of back problems. For conservative therapies, I cooperate with various rheumatologists, neurologists, and pain therapists in the city of Bern and the surrounding German- and French-speaking parts of Switzerland.

I perform surgery exclusively at Salem Hospital, which belongs to the Hirslanden Group. Surgical treatment covers degenerative conditions of the cervical and lumbar spine, such as spinal canal stenosis, disc herniation, and synovial cysts.

In addition, I have many years of experience in the invasive treatment of patients with chronic pain and spasticity (multiple sclerosis). In selected cases, this includes the implantation of pain pumps or spinal cord stimulators and their follow-up care.

Finally, I prepare expert reports on spinal surgery issues. I have written more than 70 expert reports of all kinds in this field.

The practice team is complemented by Ms. Andrea Riesen and my wife, Renate Stooss Binggeli, who are happy to provide you with information about outpatient and inpatient treatment.
