ANIS is the national database for the registration and identification of pets in Switzerland, operated by Identitas AG. It is used to record cats, rodents, birds, and other pets (except dogs, which are registered in Amicus). Registration of the microchip ensures that lost animals can be identified and their owners contacted quickly. The service supports veterinarians, animal shelters, and the police, contributing to animal welfare.
