In the canton of Bern, notary is a free, academic, and public profession—separate from administration and jurisdiction. We carry out our work independently, on our own account and under our own responsibility. We represent the interests of our clients equally and neutrally. We also mediate between parties in order to avoid or resolve conflicts. We are bound by a duty of confidentiality and are liable for any damage caused by us or our employees through negligence.
