Composting is a process whereby biodegradable materials are put together to be converted into a stabilized humus amendment, thanks to the work of living biological organisms under controlled conditions.

Dozens of species of microorganisms and small animals thrive in their millions on organic waste, feeding on sugars, proteins, cellulose, and other components of organic matter.

The goal of composting methods isto optimize techniques so that the different waves of microorganisms develop under favorable conditions and within a reasonable time frame.
