Our mission
Palliative gr is committed to ensuring that palliative care is available and accessible in a timely, comprehensive, and uncomplicated manner to all people in an advanced palliative care situation and their relatives in the canton of Graubünden. Whenever possible, this should take place at the location of the person's choice. The extent and intensity of care and support can vary individually and correspond to the needs of those affected.
Palliative care unit Graubünden
The palliative care unit is part of the internal medicine department at the Cantonal Hospital of Graubünden. At the Fontana site, patients with incurable diseases or chronic pain receive comprehensive, interdisciplinary care. A stay in the palliative care unit is intended to support patients in complex situations (pain symptoms, decision-making in a palliative situation) and enable them to return to their preferred environment. In addition to the inpatient ward, there is also an outpatient consultation hour where patients can be treated for pain, nutritional problems, and similar issues.
Palliative bridge service
This outpatient service has been offered as a pilot project in the canton of Graubünden since January 1, 2013. The staff of the palliative bridge service accompany and advise patients, their relatives, and the people and organizations involved in their care and support in complex questions relating to care and support. Professional support can be requested by the patient, relatives, family doctor, or Spitex services and nursing homes. The supplementary services provided by the palliative bridge service are temporary until the caregivers involved are able to manage the situation themselves.
Hospice Graubünden
In the canton of Graubünden, terminally ill and dying people can receive care and support at the hospice in Maienfeld. The facility has four beds and is affiliated with the Senesca care center in Maienfeld.
It is a milestone in the care of terminally ill and dying people in Graubünden:
The Hospice Graubünden fills a gap in the palliative care network, especially for younger seriously ill people. Those affected and their relatives find competent support during a respite stay or in the final phase of life.
Voluntary support for the seriously ill and dying
Voluntary support for the seriously ill and dying is available to seriously ill people and supports and relieves their closest relatives with the aim of caring for the patients concerned at home until their death. This is in line with the motto: "Live well until the end and die in peace." This important and demanding work is carried out exclusively by volunteers. The free care can be provided for hours or night watches.
Bereavement café
- Have you lost a loved one to death?
- Are you unsure how to deal with a serious diagnosis?
- Is a relative suffering from dementia and becoming increasingly distant from you?
- Has a stroke of fate suddenly cast you into the dark side of life?
- Do you feel alone or misunderstood with your pain, worries, and grief?
The Trauercafé is a service for people who are grieving the loss of a loved one. The Trauercafé is an open and safe place to talk, listen to each other, grieve, but also to find new inspiration, courage, and strength.
Grief counseling
Illness and death often trigger grief that is difficult to overcome for the bereaved, their family, or their friends. Feelings of loneliness can lead to a deep crisis in life.
Pastoral care and psychological support
"In pastoral care, it is important to endure powerlessness, meaninglessness, and emptiness in solidarity with the sufferer."
Information and counseling center for family caregivers
Do you care for or look after a relative, neighbor, or someone from your circle of friends? Or would you like to do so in the near future?
Then you've come to the right place. Caring for someone at home is a demanding task. It often involves organizing a complex daily routine, making decisions, or finding solutions to practical issues. We would like to support you in your tasks.
Living wills
Do you have an idea of how you would like to be treated, cared for, or accompanied? Perhaps you are frightened by the thought of no longer being able to make your own decisions about your life due to an accident or illness?
The Red Cross in Graubünden wants to help people record their distinctive wishes and unique will. Such decisions must be well considered. That is why we attach great importance to personal and comprehensive advice when drawing up a living will.
