company history
From 1920 onwards, Eduard Kuster ran a sawmill in Ermenswil. He transported the necessary wood to the sawmill, initially using horses and later tractors and trucks.
In 1964 , his son Edispun off the transport division and continued it as an independent transport company.
Unfortunately, Edi Kuster was killed in an accident, whereupon the company was taken over in 1966 by his brother, Walter Kuster, then a 22-year-old FBW mechanic. At that time, the company mainly transported wood. Back then, wood was often transported from the Vosges to Vorarlberg or from the Black Forest and also from various parts of Switzerland to many sawmills.
In 1975, the company moved into its new premises (a garage with workshop and residential building) at Twirrenstrasse 1 in Eschenbach.
Walter Kuster continued to develop the company and ran it as a sole proprietorship until 2004 . His wife Berta was responsible for the administrative side of the business until then. In addition to timber transport, more and more transport for special civil engineering projects, such as concrete piles, Larssen piles, etc., was added. Since around the mid-1980s , this has become a main branch of the business.
In 2004 , the sole proprietorship Walter Kusterwas converted into Kuster Transporte GmbH by Berta, Walter, and their son Thomas. Walter and Thomas Kuster now ran the company together. Prior to this, Thomas gained experience as a trained truck mechanic in the workshop, worked for several years as a driver in international long-distance transport, completed further commercial training, and successfully passed the professional examination to become a road transport dispatcher with a federal certificate.
Walter Kuster has been retired since 2009 , but still works part-time as a "stand-in" in the company. Thomas Kuster manages the company, handles dispatching, and is responsible for all office tasks. When time allows or when there is a need, he also enjoys driving himself.
