Office foundation

Stäheli Partner, based in Frauenfeld, was founded in 1994 by architect Bruno Stäheli. In over 25 years of existence, the architectural firm has completed numerous projects in the areas of residential and commercial construction, public buildings, and restoration. Close collaboration with specialist planners and craftsmen, as well as with builders and local building authorities, has always greatly enriched the firm's design and planning activities. The focus is always on the future users of the buildings. Stäheli Partner's designs are characterized by appropriateness and modesty.

 

Generational change

In 2020, long-time employee and site manager Thomas Kolb joined the management team. In the same year, the next generation of architects was also welcomed: Joëlle Thomas and Lena Stäheli joined Stäheli Partner as office partners. The two architects met while studying at ETH Zurich. Both grew up and have roots in Thurgau, completed their architecture studies in Zurich in 2015, and gained different professional experience: Lena Stäheli completed an internship in a traditional carpentry workshop in her second home, Japan. She is greatly inspired by Japanese architecture, which creates a world of tranquility with flowing transitions between spaces and few natural materials. After completing her studies, Lena worked primarily on large-scale projects and architectural competitions at the Harder Spreyermann and Hosoya Schaefer offices. Joëlle Thomas worked in the architectural office of Prof. Miroslav Šik, focusing on contextual, "analog" architecture that strives to evoke a familiar feeling in people. Subsequently, during her employment at Staufer & Hasler Architekten in Frauenfeld, she learned to implement designs in both poetic and pragmatic ways.
