The Academy of Music, one of the oldest schools in the canton of Geneva, was founded in 1886. Over the course of its 139-year history, it has offered a wide range of artistic education, creating drama classes, film courses, and a ballet school. Since Hans von Bülow's memorable visit, renowned musicians have taught at the academy, and its students and teachers have included musical personalities from our country such as Roger Vuataz and André-François Marescotti, who have directly contributed to its prestige.
Since 1981, the Academy has been a public interest foundation and its faculty is composed of some twenty members, all of whom have recognized professional training.
On September 7, 2010, the school obtained theArtistiQua Quality Certificate from ProFormations. This certification was renewed in 2014 and 2018.
A school open to all, with competitive rates:
As a private institution, the Academy of Music charges reasonable fees. Its teaching is aimed at children from the age of 3 and teenagers and adults of all ages. These two essential aspects make the Academy a school open to all.
FLEXIBLE TEACHING
The Academy applies and complies with the program of the Confederation of Geneva Music Schools. However, it remains faithful to its objectives: to provide quality music education tailored to the abilities and expectations of each student.
Motivated students are prepared for national and international competitions.
AUDITIONS, CONCERTS, PERFORMANCES
It regularly offers its students the opportunity to perform in public at numerous auditions throughout the school year. It also offers them the chance to participate in cultural events such as the Fête de la Musique, Ô Vives à Vous, and more. Following the example of teachers who favor chamber or ensemble music, students who wish to do so are invited to practice this type of music in various forms.
MUSICAL CULTURE
The Academy offers a wide range of theory classes that allow students of all ages to perfect their musical culture. It is also open to suggestions and considers opening new classes based on demand.
CHOICE OF COURSES
Students enrolled in the Academy's singing or instrument classes can choose between an "academic" curriculum and a "free" curriculum that follows the student's pace (choice of program, optional auditions).
The Academy offers every student, regardless of age, a musical education that stimulates their motivation and taste for music through practice and encounters with experienced musicians.
CONCERTS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
The Academy encourages exchange and collaboration with other schools and regularly welcomes artists from elsewhere. Our events program is kept up to date and can be viewed on our website.
DISCOVERING INSTRUMENTS
Before registering, students can request a trial lesson (for a fee), which will be counted towards the annual tuition if the student decides to begin classes.
Subject to availability, enrollment is open throughout the year.
